This is my thought process. What's yours?

The Cost of Living

2 min read

So, I’m just going to leave this little thought here. Morbid and callous as it is. As the population grows, so will the number of people that die. As will the number of ways… people will die. On any average given day in the US, about 7,250 people will die. In 2018, about 3.79 million people were born in the US. Do the math. That’s about 10,300 that are born each day. About 3k more people are born every day, than die.

It’s not time to decide IF you want to live. It’s time to decide HOW you want to live.

– The Big Thinker

I don’t want to be overly callous. But, the cold truth is that we die. We ALL die. We die from environmental conditions. We die from poor health. We die from old age. We die from violence…. And we die from disease. Among a laundry list of other reasons. And, right now? The world is just trying to find a way to keep a balance. And as we get more populated, and have more interpersonal contact… we’re going to get more sick.

And it’s going to happen… until the conditions that support pandemics are no longer present.

It’s not time to decide IF you want to live. It’s time to decide HOW you want to live.

I don’t want to be a walking corpse. I want to live my life while I’m here, free from the burden of fear… and I want to die like a hero going home.

I respect the rights and the desires of others, when appropriate. When respecting others does not also mean I stop respecting myself.

If you want to wear a mask, because of an invisible enemy, great. If you don’t want to be around me because you fear I will get you sick, that’s up to you, and I will not judge you for it.

But when you remove my right to be comfortable, because you feel your right to be comfortable (safe), is of greater value than mine, you have told me that I am less valuable than you, over a difference of opinion.

I am not now, nor will I ever be less valuable than you. My feelings and my comfort are of as much value as are yours.

The difference between us? Is that I see us as equals, and you see yourself as superior.

I am not trying to put controls in place to limit where you can be masked.

You are trying to put controls in place, that limit where I can be unmasked.

I am trying to give all people the freedom to choose.

You are taking the right of people to choose away…

Because you feel you are more important than others.
